But Erik ten Hag is keen to bring in more than one additional midfielder.
And according to The Telegraph, the club have now renewed their interest in Serbian international Milinkovic-Savic– who they have been linked with for a number of years.
An official price tag has not been set for the 27-year-old whose contract expires in 2024.
However, the report states that Man Utd would be expected to pay in the region of £60m.

Milinkovic-Savic has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A during his seven-year stint with Lazio.

Man Utd are determined to bring in fresh faces in the middle of the park following the departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic – coupled with the fact they lost their season opener 2-1 to Brighton.
Frenkie de Jong is the player they have been chasing all summer, but now that deal seems unlikely as the Dutchman is determined to stay at Barcelona.

There were even reports earlier this week that Barca were threatening legal action against De Jong.
But president Joan Laporta has now stated a desire from both the player and club for De Jong to remain at the Nou Camp.
And that news is bound to force United into looking at other targets – with Milinkovic-Savic and Rabiot thought to be the leading suitors.
Ten Hag has already added attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen to his squad this summer, along with left-back Tyrell Malacia and centre-half Lisandro Martinez.
